Hair graft: Slit Method presentation

In East Asian countries such as Korea, Japan, and China, most of the doctors who perform hair transplants use a choi inplanter called a hair transplanter.

Most of the countries other than these countries do not use a hair transplanter and use the slit method.

The slit method is capable of high-density implantation and has less popping, a phenomenon in which hair follicles protrude

It has the advantage of increasing the survival rate of hair follicles because it can attach enough hair follicle tissue.

Director Jin-oh Kim presented details about the slit method’s surgical method and its advantages and disadvantages at this conference.

[Summary of Presentation Contents]

1. In the slit method, it is convenient to perform dense packing (intensive transplantation, high density transplantation).

2. Popping (protruding hair follicles) is low.

3. A lot of soft tissue can be attached to the follicle, which increases the survival rate.

4. It is easy to determine the distribution (direction) of the transplanted hair before transplantation.

5. Since incision and placing (transplantation) are performed in 2 steps, it takes a lot of time for surgery.
